2025
The title of the first work of 2025, “Open Path”, suggested the will of permanent evolution, of experimentation. The forms and contents have varied during this year, with a different organization of the space, in which the vertical structures that contrast with powerful color backgrounds dominate, and a different use of strokes and brushstrokes. The palette has also incorporated new nuances. Reviewing the contents arises a dominant theme of reflection on historical or mythological issues, without losing the link with the force of nature and the sea. Titles such as “There are dragons there”, “Genesis”, “Gargoyle”, “Wall”, “Atlanteans”, “Ambushes”, “Stela”, “Pompeii”, summarize the first reference well, and others such as “Igneous”, “To Sprout”, “Sap” or “Deep down” are framed in the second aspect.
2024
The presence of water is constant in the 2024 works. The surprising thing is that it is not a conscious option, I realized when reviewing this year’s works. Sea, rain, bay, reef, river, archipelago, breaker, the mystery, the strength of water, the origin and the guarantee of life.

2023
The 2023 works are closely linked to the line started after the impact of recent hard years for everyone. Nature imposes its liberating force, and the sea, the forest or the different forms of water are vital refuges. There is an insistence on looking towards the light, with works such as “Guiding Light” or “Promised Light.” The mystery of space as the origin and absolute arbiter of our existence is still present. Its uncontrollable, fascinating and terrible influence is projected in “Lake of Stars”, “The Route of the Sun” or “Solar Wind”. The balance includes the evocation of a place, “Tassili”, which is a memory of human creation, and two tributes, “Beyond the forest” and “Annecy”, to much-loved works by Cèzanne.

In 2022 the leading role is played by series related to the influence of nature in our lives, especially the environment of water, the sea or forests (“Submerged Light”, “Frond”, “The pond”, “Mediterranean”, “Estuary”, “Reef”… Also with the mystery eternal space and the origin of life (“Discovery”, “Threshold”, “The route of the sun”) With social stories that shock us, such as the drama of refugees (“Memory of Limes”), and unforgettable cities (“Venice”, “Granada”)

2021
2021 was the year of “Life goes on” or “With you at sunset”, works of personal memory and desire to leave behind dark times for all, to return to turn ourselves into the vital force of nature (“Cantabrian”, “Silver tide”, “Fluvial”, “In the woods”), and in the haunting hope of space (“Threshold”, “Discovery”). It was time to recover the bright colors of “Siena”.

2020
A year that put us to the test and changed our lives. During the time of confinement due to the pandemic I was unable to paint. At the end of May, the series “Monet and war” emerged, almost inundating me, an evocation of vitality in the face of adversity that led the master of impressionism to paint the enormous murals of water lilies, installed today in “L’Orangerie”, overflowing of color of life, in times of the horror of the great war. Added to this series “Dream of stars”, “Into the night”, “Discovery” and “The pond”.

2019
The nature linked to the human being is essential in 2019 series such as “In the forest”, “The tide”, “Between two seas” or “In the blue”. The memory of the symbolic “Granada” also reappears with force, with the precedent of the series “Alhambra” from 1983. And in the year of “Life signal”, “Into the night” was also born, whose title would be unexpectedly prophetic.

The trace of History that marked what we are is at the root of the 2017 series “Vía Carisa”, memory of the presence of Rome in Asturias. In “Secret Cartography”, “Worlds” and “Trace”, dream territories are evoked. In “Irati Fall” the fascination for nature arises, which becomes very human, and homage, with “In Sorolla’s garden”.

Time for profound changes. From “Never forget” the root “Of the North”, from “Bóreas”, “Snow light” or “Shady”. But the “New Life” is the “Mediterranean”. The painting submerges for years and returns in “May”, leaving a “Sign” and looking for “Footprints”, which always lead to nature (“Forest”).
